About the Community Pride Project Competition

This program allows everyone working to improve their community to participate in the Manitoba Communities in Bloom program. The Community Pride Project is intended to showcase specific projects supporting one or more of the CiB Evaluation Criteria (Tidiness, Heritage, Environmental Awareness, Urban Forestry, Floral displays, Landscaped areas). Every entry will receive a Certificate of Recognition along with Provincial and National website exposure.

Who Can Participate

Any city district, corporation, business, group, society, organization, community or geographic segment within a community may enter (no limit). Some examples may include: BIA’s, Chambers of Commerce, Horticultural Societies, 4H Clubs, Seniors Groups, Youth Groups, Rotary, Kinsmen, Lions, Individual Businesses, Schools, Industries and more.

Evaluation Criteria:

Each project will be evaluated by a jury of professionals based on Community Spirit, Innovative Ideas and Environmental Sustainability.

How to participate – it's EASY!

Complete and submit the registration form.  Send with five digital photographs and a write up (max. 300 words) along with the registration fee by August 15th to Manitoba Communities in Bloom

It is suggested that photos could depict people in action, before and after, overall impact of the area or benefit to the community.  The write up should describe your project (What, How, Who, Why, Where). 

Benefits of participation 

  • Ignites Community energy and networks various organizations for the betterment of the whole community.
  • Encourages tidiness & beautification in residential & business areas.
  • Showcases and promotes community spirit, innovative ideas & environmental sustainability.
  • Exposure of outstanding (or ongoing) projects on the CiB provincial and national websites and/or newsletters.
  • Your Community will receive an invitation to the Communities in Bloom Provincial awards ceremony.
  • You will be entitled to the use of the Communities in Bloom logo and will be listed as a member of CiB on both the provincial and national websites.
  • Allows the community to “maintain” Manitoba Communities in Bloom standards with ongoing membership, continued support and networking through Manitoba’s CiBto keep up to date on current trends and practices.
  • Participating may assist the group in establishing committees and in obtaining special project grants.
  • CiB evaluation report is a cost effective measurement of success.
  • Inexpensive opportunity to recognize your valuable volunteers.
